**NJNLA Certificate of Merit award winner.** This home had one of the steepest backyards we have ever worked on. Where some might see problems, we saw opportunities. The steepness of the backyard provided us with a great opportunity for showcasing plants along the slope. In order to fully appreciate the garden on the slope, we built natural stone slab steps that meander up the slope and wind through the gardens so that they may be fully appreciated. With the pool sitting at the bottom of the slope, we had to build a 3 foot high retaining wall on the back edge of the pool. The retaining wall contains a small spillway giving the effect of a spring fed pool.
