NARI Metro DC Contractor of the Year Grand Award: Residential Detached Structure

A beautiful garage and loft creates a new family gathering place while preserving indoor/outdoor living areas. The main house had already been remodeled and the clients didn’t want to expand the footprint of the house at the expense of their patio area which they love to use. Instead of an addition, a large garage would gain them additional interior space without having to alter the patio area. The clients wanted to create a flexible space in the garage proper and the loft above. The garage would be used not only for cars and storage but also as a work shop and as an overflow area for indoor/outdoor events. The loft operates primarily as an office but also a family space with TV and lots of additional space.
