Arts & Crafts Bungalow

• A new residence that was sympathetic in design and mass to the surrounding, established community of eclectic, modestly scaled houses while providing comfortable spaces for the owner.

• The design presents a classic 1-1/2 story bungalow massing at the street; the low eave line sheltering an inviting front porch (the community is a pedestrian paradise).

• The principal living spaces and master bedroom are oriented to the view of the river and canal at the west. The narrow lot (50’ width) requires a narrow house.

• The siting and house take advantage of the high promontory site and dramatic topography above the canal and river. Primary rooms are layered over four levels to maximize views of the river.

• The rooms are intimately-scaled and well-detailed.

• The residence exhibits fine detailing and craftsmanship throughout. Interior and exterior materials were carefully chosen to combine traditional materials and profiles with modern techniques.
