Modern Makeover
The project dramatically transformed an ordinary brick colonial both inside and out. The client, an avid gardener, wanted modern, open spaces that flowed into the mature landscaping of the deep rear yard. A cladding of colorful stucco, couple with a modern entry canopy, revitalized the austere exterior. The modern canopy design hints of the lighter, more transparent garden facade beyond.
The rear corner of the house was deconstructed to expand the kitchen and open to a new family room. Large expanses of glass, an eroded corner and a level transition from family room to outdoor terrace all emphasize the clients’ spiritual connection to the outdoors.
