Blooms & Butterflies
Long time residents of the Park Ridge homestead Erv and Carol contacted ALD requesting an update to their front yard landscaping. They wanted to incorporate mostly pollinator friendly shrubs and perennials without any evergreens taking up the valuable space.
One of the most important ways you can help pollinators is by provisioning your yard with plants that provide pollen and nectar. Have several different plants in bloom drifting from early spring through late fall. That’s exactly what we created in their landscape. Loads of of sedum, milkweed, coneflower, agastache, yarrow, coreopsis, calamint, black-eyed Susie, allium, butterfly bush intermingled with also incorporated roses, hydrangeas, hibiscus and grasses to anchor the front yard and create structure protecting overwintering pollinators.
This yard will be continuing to grow, fill in, and flourish for years to come. It’ll be a great place to spend time outside and watch butterflies fluttering by.
