The ultimate pleasure of owning a historic house is the great location. This corner lot property is located in the heart of the downtown Palatine and has a great display of the gardens. The original landscaping wasn’t there, so we created a planting design considering the characteristics of the era the house was built. Primary attention was given to the ornamental street-side garden that passersby could enjoy as much as the homeowners. We decided to carefully wrap this beautiful home with an assortment of foundation plants consisting of sophisticated subdued color pallet and classic look. Lovely combination of timeless hydrangea, boxwood, magnolia and added movement of decorative grasses displayed well against the white house and its black foundation backdrop. Strategically shaped and proportional garden bed areas add softness and playfulness. Landscape lighting brings the outdoor space to life after dark with beautiful lighting arrangements.
