Chateau Donalda
Our Chateau Donalda design and build project, designed by Jesse Sahlani, is a timeless French Chateau style home that offers elegance and luxurious surroundings both inside and out. Using historically correct neutral stone, a steeply pitched natural slate roof, multiple dormers and arched mullion windows, this French Chateau design draws on the classic influence of the manor’s that grace the hills of Bordeaux and Burgundy, while it’s Art-Deco undertones offer a slightly contemporary influence.
The exterior utilizes an Egyptian limestone facade that is custom fabricated to achieve the level of detail desired for the exterior sills and window surrounds, while symmetrical dormer and window proportions create a sense of grandeur. A sun study was completed to show what times of day each room would receive the most light, and the rooms were placed and designed around the sun's paths based on the time of day they would most be used. At the rear, larger window and door openings take advantage of the South facing natural light, harnessing 11 hours of natural light through the summer months.
The landscape design of the home is just as intentional, creating a cohesive connection between the interior entertainment space and the grounds on which it is built. The limestone clad logia will serve as an extension of the living areas creating a three season entertaining space where limestone planter boxes, direct/indirect sconce lighting, large accordion patio doors, and in-ground pool will all play a role in creating a private oasis within the city.
