The homeowner wanted a safer bathroom where they could Age in Place. Removing the bathtub was an obvious decision. Since it's a condo a few things simply couldn't be changed: the location of the drain, and areas for recessed shelving. The drop down bench seat and stabilizing bar help the user, but don't scream 'institutional'. The hand shower option is easily accessed from the seat. The homeowner wanted a cooler, bolder color palette, but needed to compliment the existing cabinetry. A warm charcoal was selected for the tile, offset by the soft grey grout. The white tile plays with matte and texture in the shower to keep this windowless room bright.
