Rustic Contemporary Hickory Kitchen

In rural Southwest Washington, NK Portland Designer Janel Campbell and her team returned to a previous client's home to remodel their tired '90s kitchen. (Campbell's team remodeled their primary bath in 2019.)

The goal was to improve function and flow for multiple cooks, eliminate the dropped ceiling and fluorescent lighting, remove a built-in desk, provide better ventilation, upgrade and relocate appliances, and refinish the hardwood flooring. While the homeowners' selection of hickory for the cabinets shows an obvious affinity for wood grain, they otherwise envisioned light, matte, and airy finishes.
