COUNTRYSIDE KITCHEN

The galley kitchen in this home was small and in need of updating. The former kitchen did not flow well from one workspace to the next. The homeowners desired a functional space with a Cape Code sensibility and a little extra space for storage and work area.

To establish a focal point, at the window a farmhouse sink was added and the window was framed with scones and wall cabinets. Grey subway tile was installed to the ceiling to create shine and movement throughout the room.

To anchor the white cabinetry throughout the kitchen soapstone countertops were installed. Corbels add interest to the wall cabinets and help define the Cape Cod feel the homeowners desired.

To form a cooking station the ovens were stacked across from the cooktop. To maintain the dynamic through the kitchen, the Thermador refrigerator was paneled.

To support the feeling of openness, a wall was removed and the new cabinetry wraps around the stairwell.

To make way for a bar area and achieve the openness that the homeowners desired, the pantry was relocated to a previously underutilized closet.
