Cozy Cottage Kitchen Remodel

This home was built in the early 1900's and had many mechanical and structural challenges. The floor plan was very "cut up" and did't lend itself well the busy lifestyle of these home owners. The kitchen was completely cut off from the rest of the home so it made entertaining very difficult. They wanted an open feel, and a space for the kids to do homework while parents fixed dinner. They also wanted access to the back yard so we took out the windows in the formal dining and added an atrium door system. We gave them a charming banquet eating space and an island for 2 seating spaces. The cabinets were two-toned. Grey on the bottom and white on the upper cabinets added interest. A simple subway tile back splash with grey grout made for a nice detail and the Carrera-like quartz counter tops pulled everything together. Since yellow signifies "friendship" it was the perfect paint color for this gathering space!
