In this project we built a large new deck onto this beautiful home that backs onto the community lake. The original deck was very small and not optimal for entertaining large gatherings outdoors (see "before" photos).
We built a new deck structure that was more than double the size of the original. This also provided for a large covered area for the patio below, to accommodate a sheltered area for the hot tub and an adjacent spacious seating area.
With the design of well-spaced support pilings clad in stone, this provided both patio level and deck level open views of the lake backing onto the property. A railing system of tempered glass installed in an F-channel system was chosen for the perimeter of the deck as it eliminated the need for a top railing, which provides an unobstructed open view to the backyard and lake beyond.
A large patio extends beyond the deck area, providing ample seating area for entertaining large gatherings. The patio areas, steps and walkways are interlocking patio bricks.
The entire exterior was updated by repainting in a darker neutral tone, with contrasting light colour for the trimwork and deck perimeter and beams.
