Donohue-McCarthy Residence

A tight budget and a small footprint didn't limit the opportunities for transforming this 1950's ranch. What it desperately needed was better light and connection to it's wooded site. Simple changes had a big impact, from adding skylights and large sliding doors to selectively choosing what cabinets could stay and be re-worked - rather than gutting the whole kitchen.

The custom island was the only new piece of cabinetry in the kitchen. With such an open floor plan, the clean lines of this design set the tone for the home's new liveable elegance.
