Dramatic Downtown Reno

This 1970’s home in an affluent neighbourhood near downtown Fredericton was in need of a complete overhaul. It required extensive updates and seemed completely out of place on its street lined with interesting yet conservative style homes. Working with our clients we developed a plan that spoke to their design aesthetic and requirements for function and lifestyle.

The exterior design of this home was redefined by removing the front overhang and large posts from the front of the home. A vestibule addition was added to the front to expand the entryway and add to the overall aesthetic of the home.

After stripping the historic staircase of the green shag carpeting new wood treads were installed and stained to match the new hardwood floor. White risers contrast beautifully with the black iron railing as the curve of the staircase leads you upstairs.

A small sitting room can be found to the right of the entryway which was converted into the main floor playroom. Barn doors were added to allow the homeowners to close off this kids zone.

A vestibule addition was added to the front to expand the entryway and add to the overall aesthetic of the home. A custom built-in bench with wood top sits to one sits with a window above, across from a coat closet.

The fireplace in the living room was left in the existing location with the addition of built-in cabinetry to the left of the unit. The oversized formal space was ultimately broken up into two spaces, living & dining, to accommodate the new homeowner's needs.

The main bathroom upstairs was also complete gutted but keeps the existing floorplan. A custom navy vanity with quartz top was installed on top of a wood-look ceramic tile. A new tub insert was also installed with white subway tile on the surrounding walls.

The second floor of the home hosts the incredible master suite. This bedroom was doubled in size by combining two smaller bedrooms. Two closets were closed off to create a walk-in closet for the suite, and the design for the small existing ensuite was revisited.
