Forsyth Street, NYC

The gut renovation of this floor-through apartment featured a custom millwork spine as a primary organizational element through the main living space. The doors of the spine conceal and reveal various elements including entertainment, kitchen, laundry, work station, and fireplace.

The ceiling of the main living space is maximized for space and light, while a change in floor level defines the kitchen from the living room. In the living room, an existing brick wall has remained exposed, providing warmth and balance to the clean lines of the painted millwork and light stained wood floors.
The master bedroom employs flexible elements. A custom millwork closet with a pivoting wall opens to split the room into two distinct areas for sleeping and dressing. Within the millwork, a mirror TV hides the screen from view except when turned on.
