Freeman Street, Point Loma Ranch Style

A 1950's early ranch-style home in Point Loma is seeing new life with an upgraded kitchen, new flooring throughout and, courtesy San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s Residential Sound Attenuation "Quieter Home" program, new windows and upgraded HVAC systems. Conceptual design plans completed for adding a small master bedroom at back with attached deck.
New wide-plank wood floors run throughout the home. Here, white paint was removed from the hearth bricks to complement DuChateau's European Ash Panga deep red-toned flooring.

Master bedroom furnished with sculpted deep burgundy Shaw carpeting, black-out and natural-fiber sunshades, vertical slat shutters and platform king-size bed.

Transom windows carry light from an adjacent exterior bathroom into this powder room and on through to a hallway. Dimmable sconces, 24-inch medicine cabinet, Waterworks white tile, faucet and handles. Toto WC, not shown.

Original basin and 4x4 blue tile. Highgate faucet and porcelain cross handles from Waterworks, tilt mirror and dimmable sconces from RH, towel holder from Dornbracht.
50's Bathroom Preserved with Some Tweaks
Original cabinets freshened with new hardware and grey paint. All are highlighted by new 17"x26" Feroker porcelain tile flooring with subtle shadings of blue, copper and grey.
Bathroom Flooring Adds Air of Elegance
Areas of tile and carpeting were carefully chosen for compatibility with the DuChateau European Ash Panga wide-plank flooring. At right, in photo, is hallway recess leading to blue powder room.
Hallway with Original Built-Ins, Recesses
Original 4x4 pink tile; cabinets freshened with new hardware and grey paint. Dimmable light bar from Edge Lighting, frameless medicine cabinet, elegant Highgate faucet and porcelain crossbar handles, plus 13x13 variable color flooring lend an updated simplicity to the space.
Toning down a Very Pink '50's Bath
Wood siding upper, stucco lower, reeded glass sidelights at front door, wood shake roof. A curved driveway puts the garage door out of immediate view.
Lovely 1950's Early Ranch-Style Home
Modest addition would add a third bedroom with walk-in closet and use of the existing bath/powder room. Access is gained by creating a hallway through the large second bedroom, planned as a home office or child's room.
