Kitchen for an Artist

We transformed a relatively ho-hum kitchen into a beautiful, artful room packed with function and features to make cooking easy, efficient and fun. Some appliances were reused, casing and millwork details were added at windows and doorways -- and we created a new "cased opening" to the family room for a soft break between these rooms. Mixing materials and finishes added to a more collected feel.

BEFORE view of the kitchen. We reinstalled this range at nearly the same location. The microwave and soffit above were eliminated and cabinetry storage planning was improved, especially at the corners by the sink.

I love this view showing three different pendant/chandelier light fixtures. The two over the tables were already in the home, so we decided the island light needed to be rectangular-ish and awesome to hold it's own. This Hubbardton Forge LED fixture is perfect.
