AIA Mayor's Choice for Interior Architecture

Bringing the family together was the goal of this extensive kitchen remodel. This active, young family wanted spaces that would allow togetherness without crowding. To accomplish this, the existing kitchen and family room were joined together into a work, study, and gathering space.

2fORM developed several schemes to accomplish the owner’s goals of spatial connections. New cabinetry was an integral part of the design as it allowed the room to be accessible and open to the rest of the first floor. Switching the location of the family room and the dining room provided an open space for the family to stay connected. The children do their homework at the island while dinner is being prepared and everyone helps with cooking.
