Lake Bonavista
Tired of their cramped kitchen, the owners of this 1970's Lake Bonavista home completely gutted the first floor, removing a number of walls to completely open the space. Then they came to Casa Flores Cabinetry looking for a classic, open concept design that would make the most of their new-found space.
The timeless, elegant look of this kitchen was accomplished in a number of ways. The maple doors feature extensive detailing along both the inside and outside edges of the door frames. The cabinets are finished with a custom stain colour and have had a darker glaze applied into the crevices, creating depth and interest. The contrasting island cabinets were first stained, then painted black, and were then carefully hand-rubbed along the edges to give them the look of well-worn antiques
This kitchen is not only stylish, but practical as well. A number of storage accessories were incorporated into the cabinetry, including a pull-out garbage, pot drawers, and a pantry with roll-out trays.
In addition to the kitchen cabinetry, Casa Flores created a custom bench which separates the foyer from the living room. Finished in the same black, hand-rubbed finish as the island, the bench is flanked on either side by decorative columns. The bench has hinged lids to allow for the storage of items such as shoes, mitts and scarves, and the columns have additional storage in their bases.
The result is a classic, timeless look that will carry this former 70's kitchen into the coming decades.
