Planning for this renovation project was rooted in the desire to have multiple outdoor rooms for family and large-scale entertaining events. The outdoor kitchen serves as a hub of activity from grilling and cooking to socializing at the bar. Overflow seating is easily accommodated on the large patio with dining furniture. The water and fire features act as focal points, but they also help separate the outdoor rooms. A ‘hang out space’ offers flexibility for lounging and informal entertaining. Nestled on the lower level is additional patio space and hot tub. The pergola and other additional woodworking tie together the project, introducing desired privacy and year-round structure. Consistent vertical element materials along with a combination of paving selections generate a pattern language pulling the design of all spaces together.
