This project involved us as architectural designers and interior decorators.
We were hired by a young couple to connect two existing apartments they recently purchased. The challenge was to design a unified modern home in a traditional apartment building. This was a gut renovation as the existing apartment had traditional moldings and cabinets. We stripped the interior and installed modern fixtures and cabinets. The traditional herringbone floor was redone in a dark ebony finish. The dark floor contrasting with the cool white walls immediately transforms the space into a modern oasis. With the careful selection of artwork, Italian and Danish modern classics the new home is set for the young couple about town.
