A desire for a larger home with open vistas and more recreational space drew our clients from their Minneapolis Tangletown home to a lovely suburban home in Minnetrista. Expansive spaces in both room-size and height were dramatic changes from the home they left and provided a wonderful canvas for their new lake home lifestyle. The main floor, original to the home, was filled with dark cherry cabinetry in multiple heights and angles. Our first objective was to clean up the lines and open the spaces to one another. Tall soffits were added to the 16' tall kitchen to ensure a finished feel to the 9' cabinetry. Partial walls were taken to the ceiling and several angled wall and cabinetry features were removed to open spaces to one another and bring in much needed natural light. A monochromatic white palette with accents of deep navy and black was developed. Cherry floors were bleached to create an overall brightness. Simple geometric shaped light fixtures in black, brass, and glass were added to simplify ceiling changes and add interest. Opulent quartz countertops and full backsplashes create simple luxurious feel in the center of this home allowing the lovely wooded views and pool terrace to shine. Rightsized for entertaining seamlessly throughout the year, this home will provide decades of joy for this family.
