This property had a secluded and tranquil feel to the backyard but the clients desired an outdoors that would encourage more active recreation and be more indicative of their modern and formal design taste. One of the first improvements made was to update their existing deck by adding stairs to provide direct access to the lower yard. Additionally, we added underdeck drainage to better utilize the area under the deck and improved the overall aesthetics of the deck by adding decorative stone bases and post wraps to each of the deck posts. However, the main attraction of the rear yard is the 12x40’ lap pool with attached spa. The narrow rectangular shape of the pool evokes a sereneness similar to a reflective pool. The paving pattern and color of the pool deck effectively reinforces the linear lines of the design yet beautifully contrasts the color of the pool. A natural stone fireplace anchors the opposite end of the pool deck providing a more passive recreational use.
