A couple with a long tradition of spending summers in a seaside community in Maine decided to make their full time home there. A lot became available on a quiet lane where they already owned a summer home and they leapt at the chance to create a new construction home intimate enough for just the two of them, but also large and open enough for entertaining and for visits from their grown children. The plan consists of 2 long wings allowing natural light from all sun exposures. The wings are linked by a 2 story entry hall with a dramatic contemporary stair. The exterior of the new design relies on traditional materials, gable roof forms and double hung windows.
