Northbrook Fire Pit

With just a patio and some plants in their backyard, these homeowners wanted to enhance their overall landscape and decided that a fire pit would be the perfect feature to add.

Due to the city’s ordinances, the fire pit had to be at least 10ft away from all combustible objects, including the family’s house. As a consequence, we needed a way to connect the existing patio to the new fire pit.

To do this, we created a flagstone stepper path, which matched the stone type and color used on the exterior of the house. We also used ledgestone boulders that doubled as both informal seating and as decorative rocks. The Merrimac gravel surrounding the fire pit tied in the shades and textures of all the stones to create a cohesive look throughout the landscape.

The clients loved the dynamic feel of their new fire pit and couldn’t wait to invite friends over to show them their newly enhanced backyard.
