A dilapidated split-level in Holladay, Utah gets a comprehensive upgrade designed around a perfectly framed view of Mount Olympus.

Solstice worked closely with the owner and contractor from the start to plan a meticulous remodel and energy retrofit of this 1970s split-level. Additions of a new porch and large garden-level great room allowed for replacing the compact and obtrusive stair with functional circulation connecting living spaces on multiple levels, including a new roof deck oriented to views of the Wasatch mountains and concealed from street view.

Surprises uncovered during demolition led to most of the original structure being replaced, which became an opportunity to increase low ceiling heights and improve air sealing and insulation even further.

Abundant living space, soaring ceilings and framed views may be the highlights of this reimagined home, but the understated space planning providing flowing circulation between spaces is what brings it all together.
