Oxley Eclectic

When an eclectic musician and music masterer approaches you with the need for a new kitchen in their condo, you know something great will come out of it. Located in a bustling neighborhood of Toronto, this condo featured a cement ceiling and industrial elements, but a kitchen that lacked the level of charm required to keep up with the homeowners taste.

The original L-shaped kitchen felt poorly laid out and cramped, with cabinets that lacked functionality (and personality!) And so, Design Partner Jenny, of Ayume Concepts, sought to blend a combination of cabinetry that ensures all storage needs were met, while maintaining character and opportunities to showcase the client's extensive collection of jars and art. A peninsula was also incorporated into the design to allow for seating atop the paper clip stools and additional storage on the back to showcase more collectibles.

A definite mid-century feel is evoked through with the material combination in this design, where both Frozen Walnut Shinnoki and Matte Juniper cabinets are given the chance to make an impact in the space. The backsplash, a Japanese Inax tile in deep green, further enhances the kitchen's aesthetic appeal and proved to be the perfect contrast against the Cloudburst Concrete Caesarstone countertop.

This kitchen renovation transformed the cramped kitchen into a well-planned layout, seamlessly blending practicality with the client's distinctive taste and collection of decor (vintage soup cans and all!)
