This house started and finished as a true, South Pasadena Spanish Bungalow. The owner wished to stick with the original feel and floor plan of the house so fine tuning the new, but authentic finishes was key. I used lots of Malibu style and hand painted Mexican tiles to carry out the artisan feel. Natural stones with warmer tones were also chosen to compliment the earthy palette. It's rare that a large item like a stove works on a diagonal. In this kitchen it worked perfectly and helped to round out the food prep zone. It also caused the eye to move in a circle around the kitchen island which was very pleasing.
