This highly diverse community of Los Feliz Village is home to many ethnicities and a range of creative professionals including visual artists, writers and musicians, performers and more. Its largely a walking neighborhood where residents can enjoy unique venues like the Los Feliz Theater and Skylight Books. Los Feliz inspired the imagination of Walt Disney with his first office located around the corner. In this social context one feels free to explore the vistas of outer space AND… one’s inner insights. The fine art in the garden has a theme of self-awareness and wonder at our place as a both a whole and a part of life. The unique light fixtures on each side of the gate offer views of the constellations of Orion and Scorpius. This small courtyard garden, initially a piece of space given away to the street, has become an important outdoor living space and place for daily reflection and awareness. It is a testament to the value that a tiny bit of landscape can offer to inspire and restore the mind and body. The garden put a frame around a personal point of view with recycled metals and wood, fine art plaques, and outdoor prints. The custom designed features reveal a transition space that exists between the internal and external worlds as well as a space different from life inside the home and the public realm on the public sidewalk outside the gates. The observatory on the hill in the distance reminds us of ever expansive and unbounded viewpoints.
