sellwood
this project in sellwood started as a modest home which in most cases would likely have been torn down to make way for a new, overscaled characature of a 'historic' home. the owners decided to instead remodel, which allowed us to maintain the scale of the existing home and retain some of the interior and exterior finishes that were worth salvaging. every inch of this house has been disassembled and rebuilt, starting with the failing foundation. the relatively modern approach to the interiors is softened by the extensive use of reclaimed materials. the owners were able to achieve the space that they needed for their family by reconfiguring the interiors and adding 2 dormers to the roof. only approximately 48 sq. ft. was added to the envelope to enlarge the dining room.
