The client sought to transform an underutilized section of the park into a contemplative space that fosters relaxation and engagement with nature. Accessibility, sensory and aesthetic integration with the surrounding landscape were primary goals, ensuring that the space remains inviting to all visitors. The design aimed to introduce a harmonious blend of functionality and beauty, enhancing the park’s atmosphere while providing a space for reflection and community engagement.

The labyrinth design encourages mindful exploration, while the drystack stone wall adds both visual interest and functional seating, while also including an accessible jut out for wheelchair and sensory exploration with various textures. Challenges included approval of all entities, limited budget, and multiple design revisions to please everyone; as well as keeping the design simple. The original landscape design was eliminated due to budget, so a more naturalized, no mow perimeter among the trees was adopted as an alternate, low-cost solution.
