Transitional New Home

A new home in a transitional style. A young family of four wanted a space that could be functional for kids while also offering space to grow. Public spaces on the first floor offer wide open floor plans and a guest area. Upstairs rooms are more intimate and functional. Steep and varying roof pitches offer a enjoyable visual to all spaces.

The kitchen has a long island and it open to public spaces on two sides. This encourages gathering in the space for meal preparation and family time. A large amount of counter space lets the cooks spread out their ingredients. The window looks out on the front driveway.

The stairs to the upper floor are in the entry. A long passage from downstairs bedrooms to backyard patio accentuates the length of the home. Hardwood floors tie all the spaces together. A compact full bath is nearby.

The upstairs landing is designed for play-space between the kids rooms and the master suite. The kids bathroom is to the right, conveniently near the laundry room. Railings, pitched roof and skylights all accentuate the open space down to the first floor.

The kids rooms can be seen in the background. A nook to the right is perfect as a play area or as a future guest room with closet. Windows let in plentiful light from both sides of the home.

The children's bath showcases an almost nautical theme through mirrors and lighting. Tile floors are durable and match countertop.

Combination of stucco and shingle siding give the home a more traditional vibe. Slate tile creates a path to the front entry. Permeable driveway pavers create a nice visual pattern that ties into the other textures of the exterior. A rain chain run to an underground drain line.
