This 80 square foot bath space truly expresses the client’s passion for RED. She wanted her bland 1990’s builder’s grade bathroom to reflect her youthful spirit. Her design wish was simple, “Just give me a black and white bathroom with a red countertop!”. At first it seemed simple enough. However the fear quickly set in when we realized that this space had the potential to look like a disco flashback.

Product selections were crucial to giving this scheme a fresh and current look. Instead of a flat black and white tile, we chose Olympia Milanese which has a rich linen texture.Olympia Venezia Red 12x24’s created the red stripe in the shower. The strong vertical line counter balanced the horizontal statement created by the countertop. The addition of polished flat and stacking pebbles creates a spa look. Coffee Bubinga Burl Tree Frog Veneer was used to compliment the white cabinetry and adds a crazy punch of pattern to the space.

Danze Parma plumbing and Kovacs and ET2 lighting fixtures were chosen for their clean and simple lines. LED lighting in the tops of the storage towers and linen cabinet provides a soft glow.

Slightly fearful of technology, the client insisted on using a Myson plug-in type towel warmer which can be easily replaced should anything go wrong. An outlet is provided in the back of a vanity drawer for a hair dryer and flattening iron.
