Two Looks and a Twist House
This 2,550 square-foot house is on a wooded ravine site and nestled between beautiful Dawn Redwood, False Cypress and European Beech trees. It was completed in 1994 and has timeless, outstanding curb appeal - a good thing since it is the home of the architect and his beautiful wife. The house has a split personality that merges a classic two-and-a-half story Shingle- style mass with a modern crossing axis punctuated with a white tower at one end and a detached, 'tree house' screen porch at the other. The house design has Picturesque qualities with the tall masses and whimsical features. Use of creative siting, natural materials, and steeply pitched roofs help our house fit the context of our turn-of-the-century neighborhood.
