Woodcreek

Woodcreek is a house design for a client located in Lynden, Washington. Lynden is a small Dutch town nestled south of the Canadian border. It is home to just under 15,000 residents, making it the second-largest city in Whatcom County. Our project, Woodcreek, harks back to the Dutch Colonial roots of the town that are prolific throughout the area. The proposed home offers its occupants modern amenities and creature comforts in a timeless design, returning to yesteryear.

Features of the home

The home features ample covered outdoor spaces facing both the front and back yard, giving the owners plenty of room for outdoor activities no matter the time of year. For our client, who enjoys regularly entertaining their immediate and extended families, the back porch is designed with ample room for an outdoor kitchen for year-round grilling whenever inspiration strikes. The backyard features a large in-ground pool with a pool-house/hobby workshop within proximity. Offering extra storage and a space for the owner to work on various small projects and hobbies.

Within its 5,750 square feet, the house has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. This home is much larger than the small farmhouse it is meant to replace. There is ample space within the walls of the house, with every room focusing on family life. A wide variety of entertainment options are available in the owner's home to enjoy their children and grandchildren. Having two living rooms on separate floors allows adults to entertain separately from children who can rummage about in the TV room on the upper floor. The house offers multiple options and accommodations for traveling guests to Woodcreek within the home's many bedrooms. There are endless entertainment possibilities, great for family gatherings or getting old friends together for a long weekend.

The colonial style of this home, while significant, fits its surroundings in the town founded in the 1870s. Much of the town's architecture is similar, especially in the downtown area. The predominately Dutch Colonial town features many historical places and beautiful examples of design history, where we hope that Woodcreek fits right in.
