Pergola addition over existing deck. The homeowners wanted to add both shade and appeal to the existing garden level deck. With differing levels of the exit doors onto the deck, care had to be paid to allowing adequate headroom while keeping the pergola top runners all one level. The pergola 6x6 posts were installed free standing as the deck will need substantial maintenance / replacement in the coming years. The new deck can be secured to the posts to add extra stability.
