Beach House Delight

This custom vacation home in Rehoboth Beach incorporates the homeowner’s vision of a beach house that could be used year-round, conducive to both entertaining and relaxing, featuring distinct design elements of Cape Cod and Nantucket architecture.
The architectural concept is about the interaction of the house with its environment; to create a home where water can be viewed from almost every room, incorporating sustainable design and a distinct seaside aesthetic throughout the house.
In 4200 SF, the linear, open floor plan features 10’ ceilings, 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, and access to balconies or a deck from every bedroom. The Master Bath features a custom glass-compartmentalized toilet and walk-in shower behind, as well as an outdoor shower located on the private balcony. At the top of the ‘turret,’ a third-floor home office offers inspiring 360-degree views of both ocean and canal.
The modern, floating staircase lends to the eclectic nature of the interior design and creative design elements such as a wood compass floor inlay and turquoise vanity sink bring out the personalities of the homeowners. Private and public balconies overlooking the canal, and an oversized deck and front porch blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living.
The left side of the house was angled at 20 degrees to open up views and follow the shape of the lot. The house is in harmony with its environment; sustainable design elements such as geo-thermal heating/cooling, high-efficiency windows, and a crushed seashell driveway enhance the architectural sustainability of the home.
