Co-Housing
Three couples planned for a lifestyle change and the result is this co-housing development. Situated on the waterfront, this site remains 80% undeveloped with 40% protected in conservation. The homes have super-insulated, high performance envelopes made with resilient, low maintenance materials and each unit is heated with a central biomass boiler. The design uses day lighting, natural ventilation, and controlled solar gain to reduce heating, cooling, and the electrical loads. The homes and caregiver quarters have six solar panel arrays and five green roofs. The aggressive schedule was met, and all three couples were able to celebrate their first holiday season at their new homes.
