Wharf House

The plan was to provide a summer gathering place for the owner, her three children, and her six grandchildren. The theme for this project design was, “Think Wharf”. The residence is three cottages connected by porches, and a catwalk. The footprint of the three buildings spreads out over 140 feet, and the site drops ten feet from one end to the other. The biggest challenge on an island job is how to manage materials, supplies, and crews. A variety of strategies were employed for this and they varied with the
seasons, the tides, and the time of day. It is essential to work with a contractor experienced in the nuances and complexities of island construction.
