CONTEMPORARY SENIOR LIVING

AWARD WINNING PROJECT
New construction homes with open floor plans have lots of volume to fill as well as having one basic design challenge in common: how to create relaxed luxury and warmth throughout. This award-winning Monroe, NJ home, in an active adult community, has ten-foot ceilings and few interior walls. One key to a successful open floor plan design is creating warmth by defying the spaces without enclosing them and the other is maximizing architectural details.

ENTRY FOYER
Black French doors with glass doorknobs define the entry to the library/home office, which is the only room separated by walls for privacy. A large red leather ottoman is the focal point of the room; the shag rug underneath adds texture, depth and warmth.
LIBRARY/HOME OFFICE
In open floor plans, the rooms need to coordinate. Here we used a subtle neutral palette with white walls, a medium-toned hardwood floor and white cabinetry. Punches of color and contrast are added to the gray textures with red chairs, throw pillows and artwork.
