Custom Bathroom Renovation
This bathroom renovation was quite the transformation! We took an extremely dated bathroom with dark wood paneling, green indoor/outdoor carpet, and 1950's baby blue tile and turned it into a custom bath and sauna room.
The entire room was gutted back to the block wall and concrete flooring leaving only the sauna enclosure in place. We separated the shower and toilet spaces, insulated the floor, walls and ceiling, and installed electric radiant floor heating. Clear lacquered bamboo wall paneling was used as the main wall material because it is low maintenance and brightened the room. The shower's smooth travertine tiles give a clean finish and complement the color of the bamboo wall paneling. Glass tile was incorporated as an accent material in the shower and around the vanity mirror. The glass tile and glass accent bars were set vertically to look like stalks of bamboo. For an additional accent, 3-form "green fern" and "bamboo ring" acrylic paneling was used.
