The homeowners of this house, overlooking Ryder’s Cove in North Chatham, had originally planned on remodeling their existing home. After a structural review and consideration all of the changes needed – including increased living space and larger windows to capture the water views – it became more feasible and cost effective to build a new, custom-designed home. The first floor in the new home has a large open kitchen, living and dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows along the water-facing exterior wall, a study and a private master suite. Upstairs are three additional bedrooms and two bathrooms. The deck, which opens directly off the living area, overlooks the cove. We used a cable railing system, rather than wood fencing, on the deck to allow unimpeded views of the water.
