Pineapple House handled the extensive renovation of this mountain home, plus the construction of a new, two-story wing to add a two-story stone fireplace and two more bedrooms and baths. The designers totally reconfigure the existing home, establishing an enormous kitchen, relocating the central staircase to the back of the home, changing exterior windows to glass doors and expanding the beamed ceiling to unify the new kitchen with the central gathering room. They emphasize the use of native materials, such as when they employ locally mined granite boulders and stones in the exterior's retaining walls, fire pit, stairs, waterfall and fireplaces.
