The challenge presented by the homeowner was a shortage of ambient or "casual" light. The ceiling is to low for an appropriate overhead fixture and they were thinking about mechanical solutions when they asked me to assist. They were considering a tray modification to the ceiling, an additional crown detail of some sort, they weren't sure. As with all our jobs, a bunch of design and thought goes into getting it right.
