For this new home on Whidbey Island, our objectives were to create a comfortable home for two people and maximize the views to the southwest. We oriented the house in such a way as to provide each room with a view. The garage we oriented to provide the ideal angle for rooftop solar panels. At about 2,000 square feet, this comfortable house feels bigger than it is. It has heated floors and an open-concept plan with vaulted ceilings throughout. The generous outdoor spaces and strong visual connections between the inside and the outside help maximize the feeling of light and space.
