Glenn Falls Residence

When this couple married, they replaced the house one of them owned with a more spectacular 4,400 square-foot home sited on a large lot in Devonshire Estates. The sleek, clean lines and warm tones of this home provide a showcase for the couple’s art and Rumford fireplace anchoring the family room.

To emphasize the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the home, we designed window walls, usually a feature of commercial construction. But this home is anything but commercial.

The materials used throughout blend perfectly, making a statement about art and life.

This home boasts a very personalized kitchen for two, which flows into the family room and dining room. Two his-and-hers full-size islands were designed to allow food preparation to continue while guests are entertained. The clear-stained cabinetry, absolute black granite and stainless steel appliances continue the “unfussy” attitude of the rest of the house.

Bernbaum-Magadini used an over-sized (9’ by 6’) piece of Kalwall, another commercial building material, on one wall of the master bathroom to retain privacy and provide a spa-like environment. French limestone was used throughout to again create clean, sleek lines.

With the charge of bringing the outside in, floor to ceiling corner windows were incorporated into the dining room that looks out onto a private garden. An “artichoke” fixture works to make the dining room’s ceiling height more intimate.
