This mid-century ranch style home got a little facelift with new paint, furniture, window coverings, lighting and rugs. It is contemporary with a little mix of modern. Using all the clients’ collections, I made it fresh and fun. Decorating shelves with vintage books always looks stunning, but make sure the books have meaning. This homeowner has a nice collection of Charlotte Bronte and has read all the books on this shelf. When looking for vintage books go to a used book store that is affiliated with a public library. They always have a great selection of classics. Even inexpensive glass vases in a cluster look elegant and create their own sparkle. An eclectic group of busts instantly becomes a topic of conversation with guests.

This dining room is anything but ordinary. Chairs don’t have to match and use a settee on one side. The mix of a country farmhouse table and modern chairs, make this room fun. The oversized heavy chandelier makes a statement and makes everything glow. Top it all off with a collection of Picasso reproductions. The ruched drapery in the dining room adds an element of formality to the playful modern chairs. The petite entry gets its due with stenciled walls and Ekat rug. The entry shelf and mirror are vintage finds that were painted the same gray as the trim and doors; this makes the space feel like it is important and regal.
