Our clients built their home in 1985 with the typical oak cabinet and oak floors done at that time. 32 years later they decided it was time for an update. The layout stayed fairly close to the original with the biggest change being the shape of the island going for angled to a 90 degree 'L' shape. Another ode to 1985 was the drop ceiling that formerly housed recessed fluorescent lighting. It was built below scissor trusses so we were able to remove the soffit and increase the ceiling height to nearly 9'.

This kitchen is full of useful storage ideas and features a dramatic black painted island. We had a lot of fun dialing in all the details and they're very happy with the results!
