Ranch Home Renovation

The old kitchen walls were knocked down to open up this space. The new plan allows for multi-person cooking, entertaining and enjoying views of the outdoors. The stainless steel and granite contrast nicely against the warm tones of the Hickory floors and Alder cabinets.

We did a full height granite backsplash behind the range for two reasons: 1) it's much easier to clean than tile, and 2) this granite has such a beautiful pattern, that we thought tile might detract - so we kept it simple and used the granite here, too.

Subtle details make a difference: For this project, we eased all of the sharp square edges - on the cabinets, counter tops and finish trim - for improved durability and a softer look. Cabinets are Alder.
