A custom staircase in Ilahe in Oregon. We used Sapele hardwood for the treads and handrail, finished to match the casework in the rest of the home. The stair is mounted to structural C-Channel on the wall and into the space, with open risers showing the thickness of the solid wood treads. The central feature of the stair is the solid steel post that acts as a structural anchor, as well as a site for the handrail transition between flights.
